"a friend of mine" yeah right, i.e. you! haha.

a vast majority of people arent honest when applying for a credit card, don't listen to the people that say they are. Long as you stick to the same address for your company, your employer, length of time there and the company fax number as the contact number (so they dont get through if they call). Rarely do they ask for proof of income. some cards i have applied for and have been successful for all they asked for was proof of identity and address e.g. your drivers licence.

so if indeed it is you friend; just apply for the bloody cards! forget the piggy bank. live a little.

God. You don't half talk a load of !!!!!!.

Don't you think a bank can distinguish between a telephone number and a fax number? Don't you think they would get suspicious when an applicant is using a fax number?

You don't seem like a bright individual. In fact, you're just providing us all with entertainment and amusement with all the boll*cks your talking. :rotfl:

Don't lie, but there's no reason you can't have a credit card just because you're self employed.
My Hubby is self employed and recently got a credit card. Granted the application also considered my income. Ask your own bank in the first instance. they know what is coming and going from your accounts and if you're too much of a risk or not.

Ohhhhh, lighten up Elky. *** is right, call centre monkeys just think that a fax tone is an engaged tone and they don’t bother calling back because the line is always busy. So as has been suggested, ‘go on my son, fill yer boots’ and erm........ live a little. :money:

This forum has been around for a bit now, so I’m sure we will all be here to help out in 4 months time when by some miracle an application has been granted based upon a stated £275,000 income and the inevitable post is made that runs along the lines of, MBNA/RBS/Halifax are bas***ds, just because I paid less than the minimum payment two weeks after the due date, how am I going to refinance, I can’t transfer to a 0% cos I keep getting turned down, I know it’s my fault for spending – but they gave me a stupidly high limit, etc, etc. :rotfl:

The fax tone actually sounds like an old dial-up modem, which is completely different to the engaged tone. Anyone with half a brain can distinguish between them both. :p

Ahaaa, you have stumbled upon an even better plan to go along with a made up income. Ditch broadband and go back to dial up connected on a permanent basis. That way when the card company tries to phone you, it really is engaged!!!! Then when they send letters, just deny ever receiving them. Ha, foolproof.

I’m putting in eight applications tonight. Don’t worry, I’ve even got a plan for putting in multiple credit applications and it not leaving a mark on my credit report. *** told me how to do it.

By the way, people should really go back to dial up, not just for the benefits of credit card applications, but it has got waaay faster since people stopped using it – less traffic. Another top tip supplied by ***.

Erm...... ok, clearly humour isn’t tolerated in this thread. :(

I go back to my original advice, which was don’t exaggerate your income on applications. As others have pointed out, it is fraud.

Also, try to avoid credit cards that have a rate of 34.9%, they could be expensive.

Star, I’d be angry too if I had a 34.9% card, but yo man, take it easy. Everything I have written bar my first post in this thread has been obvious complete rubbish.

You cannot cheat lenders and if you do, it will only be for a short time before it all goes wrong as anyone who has sensibly spent time acquiring knowledge about how cards work by reading this forum over a period of time will know.

The lenders have the power to raise APRs, cut limits, put arcane clauses in their T&Cs or even refuse people credit at all. What we as consumers can do in return is learn and understand the rules, make sensible use of credit only if it is really required, ensure that we can service the debt, tart and take advantage of offers whilst being aware of implications. – No Joke.
