Hello everyone,

Bear with me because this probably sounds confusing, am posting this on behalf of a friend.

Many months ago her car was hit on a roundabout, no major damage to either car, the lady who hit her admitted liability and details were exchanged (which my friend no longer has) no witnesses involved.

Now my friend has recieved a letter from her insurance company stating they have been notified of the incident but they don't appear to have a report, friend never contacted them as she did not wish to claim.

Letter states that the location is unknown, the circumstances are unknown however the driver involved was a Mr ******

This is 5 months after the incident and there most definitely wasn't a man driving the car, obviously she has no proof of this. So is he now trying to claim from her and what should her next step be?

Is this normal? My friend is wary that someone is trying to fraudulently claim against her. Or is this just standard, sorry never been in this situation before.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks gem I totally agree with you, what I have posted is all the facts we have. I agree with it being vague, this is why my friend is wary. She doesn't want to say anything for it may be being seen as an admission of liability.

    Thanks

hiya chick if i was her i would ring up the insurance company and say she has no idea who this person is, what the letter is about and to say she is totally oblivious to whatis going on. the insurance company should have all the details for her.

i dont see how this would relate to her previuos bump. if it does then she should have no worries about it as it wasnt her fault.

it all sounds strange and im sure your friend is very concerned. hate sorting things out with cars!!! i have spent the last couple of hours looking for an mot testing centre that hasn't ripped me off in the past...doesnt cost a fortune etc!

It makes no difference that your friend did not want to make a claim, the incident should have been reported. (And is a breach of the policy conditions if not reported)

It sounds as if the third party's insurer is saying some liability rests with your friend, (the roadside "admission" your friend says she got counts for little), and has put in a claim to your insurer.

Tell them what they ask, confirm no claim is being made by the policyholder over the incident and leave them to deal with it.

    Had a similar thing recently.

I pointed out I may have noticed being in an accident/collision on my bike insurance.

Turns out it was simply a repair center which had written down the wrong reg.
