OH NO, lost EDF gas card, No gas until friday!?
I lost my gas card, I have no idea where it is, I have checked everywhere at home and work and it's nowhere:(
I rang there 24 hour line to be told they can only send a new one out and it might take 5 days my post is so bad so probably wouldnt get it until next week?
I explained on the phone I have a 5 year old son and I wont have any heating/hotwater at all, he asked if I had a emersion tank (sp?) I said no I dont, he went silent them said goodbye and hung up.
I really worried, is it possible to let someone go this long without heating/hotwater?
Please help.
(sorry for spellings!)

Its unfortunate, but presumably you have an electric kettle for hot water, and most people have turned their heating off now the weather is warmer.
The EDF man would have been referring to an immersion heater in your hot water tank.
If you have a combination boiler you would not have one.
Maybe it would be a good idea to change to a credit meter. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
18 to 21 degrees daytime and remaining in double figures night-time until the end of the week. And I trust you have a kettle. Be thankful for the good timing of your loss. But you should always have several days top-up in your meters anywhence - and surely you have the emergency credit to last you until a new key is posted? That is what emergency credit for - emergencies.0

It may be inconvenient for you,but I think 3 days to replace your
"lost meter card" is pretty good service, why are you complaining,If you lost your card it means you did not take care of it,0 -

(sorry for spellings!)How can the consumer obtain gas/electricity without a card for their prepayment meter?
...If you lose the key or card for the meter you should phone the supplier as soon as possible to ask for a new one. It will normally arrive within a couple of days. You should be able to obtain a temporary gas or electricity card from your local Pay Point outlet. The gas or electricity supplier should inform you whether this option is available and provide instructions on obtaining a card. Usually the gas or electricity supplier will provide you with an account number which you must take to the outlet you normally use or the nearest outlet if you have just moved in. The outlet will then provide you with a payment card that can be used until one is issued by the supplier.
If you have already run out of gas or electricity you should contact the supplier requesting an 'emergency wind-on'. This means an engineer will call at the property to add more credit onto the meter. You will have to pay this back when you receive the replacement card or key and buy more gas or electricity..."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
