Hi,
I'm looking at buying a laptop and I have around £600 to spend. I'll be using it for creating Powerpoint presentations, storing large files and some image editing. Occasionally playing games and watching movies.
I am considering the Acer Aspire 5740 with Intel® Core™ i5- 520M (2.4 GHz), 4GB ram and 500GB HDD.
Using an online voucher I've found it for £610.97.
Is this a good deal? Are there better laptops for the money?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Graham

This laptop looks quite good for your budget, and I'd expect it to last a bit longer than an Acer. Similar specs, although slightly smaller Hard Drive. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

might be better games wise as has a good beefie graphics card ok its not a i5 CPU but the i3 is pretty good anywayDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Thanks for the suggestions.
Ideally, I want a 15 inch screen cos I will be taking the laptop with me on my travels.
Any other suggestions?0 -
Hi 10.9
I have been researching laptops for a few weeks now. I want enough beef to replace my desktop (and do a bit of gaming) so it needs to have bells & whistles.. and a numeric keyboard. I had boiled it down to the HP Pavilion dv6-2113sa which gives a LOT of bang for the buck

but recently spotted the Samsung R580 which is new out and looks
georgeous. Not only that but it has a very good spec and all the reviews I have read have been excellent. You can see it in all its glory on the Samsung UK site and a recent review here -

Both of these are sub £600
Hope this is useful for you0 -
Hi Esslee
Thanks for your suggestions. I've ordered the HP Pavilion DV6.
Cheers
