JSA after being made redundant?

hello
just a question on behalf of a colleague, we are being made redundant in 8 weeks time, as my severance is good due to length of service, i am not too concerned at the moment, but a couple of the younger members have only got a short service time so have only a very small redundancy package, if they are made redundant would they be able to claim job seekers allowance straight after the severance date? or is their a set time.
also does it make a difference if it is voluntry redundancy or compulsory redundancy?

You can claim straight away. Doesn't matter what the size of your severance is, one type of jobseekers you can get for up to 6 mths no matter how much money you have in the bank.
I don't know about the voluntary aspect though.0
