About Festival Too

Festival Too is celebrating its 29th year of bringing FREE entertainment to King's Lynn in 2014.
History

Festival Too was born back in 1985, when a group of business people got together to put on a music event in town to complement the King’s Lynn Festival. In year one, the budget for this was £5,000, with local businesses sponsoring the top musical acts of the day. In recent years, the budget has grown to an impressive £80,000, still massively supported by donations from local companies, private individuals and the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, as well as national names such as McDonald's and VW. The committee would also like to thank anyone who has put money into the Festival Too buckets when they have attended any of the nights.
Support and sponsorship

Festival Too is totally non-profit making. Every single penny raised is put directly back into the Festival itself to provide top quality FREE entertainment. The Festival now features fireworks on the opening night and a full programme of street entertainment on the three Saturdays of the Festival so that families visiting the town can enjoy such activities as clown shows, jugglers, puppets and balloon modelling whilst shopping and getting ready for the evening's entertainment.
Previous year's acts

With help and support from the local press and radio, we publicise the event well in advance of Festival Too, ensuring as many people come along and enjoy the FREE event as much as possible. Regular crowds of over 10,000 have seen acts such as Blue, Lemar, Atomic Kitten, Toyah Willcox, Deacon Blue, The Stranglers, Bad Manners, The Human League, 10cc, Heather Small of M People thrill the audience.
Getting involved

Do you want to help make Festival Too better in 2015? Look out for the team with their Festival Too collection buckets at Festival Too events. Every penny raised will go towards future entertainment. Alternatively you can email Alan Taylor, alan@yourlocalpaper.co.uk, if you would like to get involved further.
This year's dates

Come along and enjoy one of Europe's largest FREE festivals!
This years festival will be held on Saturday 28th June, Friday 4th July, Saturday 5th July, Friday 11th July & Saturday 12th July.
Festival Too, Tuesday Market Place, King's Lynn. Celebrating 29 years of FREE entertainment.

• I have come across to a folk festival in Canterbury, Kent.

Canterbury Folk Festival are set to have live music stand, morris dancers, artisan food stalls, kids area with activities and art and retails stalls.

The dates for Canterbury Folk Festival are 27th and 27th of June 2015, the place is Dane John Gardens which is 2 minutes walk from the bus station and also 2 minutes walk from Canterbury East railway station.

Canterbury is famous with their cathedral and long history. Also there are many universities and colleges in the area. The High street is full with choice from small independent shops and also franchise shops.

You can find them on Facebook /canterburyfolkfestivaluk and Twitter @canterfolkfest

I highly recommend to check Canterbury Folk Festival if you are looking for a day out in end of June.

Completely forget to say that is FREE ENTRY FESTIVAL.

The Willow Festival is also happening this year, 10-11-12 July 2015.

The following was taken from their website:
The Willow Festival will celebrate its tenth birthday in July 2015 and will return as a result of the generous support of our sponsors, patrons and those who donate. Started in 1998 TWF has been staged on nine previous occasions and we want to make our tenth a very special one, but as always, we need your help.

The three day event attracts a footfall of approximately 50,000 visitors each year and continues to be the city’s premier arts event showcasing 170+ live bands and solo acts. The festival is most probably the largest event of its type and remit in the world today.

TWF 2015 will again be a free to enter family orientated live music festival.
We want to keep this event FREE for everybody to enjoy, it has huge benefits for the area both commercially and in terms of quality of local life. So if you can afford it and if you feel you want to see TWF remain in this city and grow further, please help us by making a donation. Every penny goes towards the event, as it’s run entirely by unpaid volunteers and directors.

Usually a good idea to include where on the planet it is happening ;) (Peterborough, for anyone else wondering :) )
