Been buying broken consoles to fix up and sell. I've been ripped off a bit along the way but mostly been happy with the stuff i've bought.
Was just browsing ebay to see whats been listed and came across a console with this written at the end of the listing.
"Please note that items will be posted once payment has cleared and I always obtain proof of postage, so in the unlikley event that the item becomes damaged or missing in the post I will forward this proof to you for you to seek compensation."
I am right in thinking it's the seller that needs to get the compensation though? Not the buyer? Just thinking maybe they're up to no good and might try it on? Any thoughts?

Its rubbish he's responsible for anything lost. If an item doesn't arrive and the seller refuses to refund just open a paypal dispute if they can't prove delivery you will get refunded
All people do when they put things like this in their listings is make themselves look stupid0 -
The other version of this is when they put something like 'if you don't choose to add the extra 75p for insurance we will not refund you if the item does not arrive'
which same as above, is simply untrue.0 -
Agree, its the sellers responsibilty to ensure the item gets to the buyer in the same condition they purchased it. Therefore if it gets lost or damaged the seller is the one who puts the claim in with the delivery company and refunds you the cash.0

Hi as everyone else has said putting a statement like this on your listing does not affect the buyers rights in anyway at all.
If an item you buy does not turn up and the seller has no tracking details paypal will always refund the buyer regardless of the silly statement on the listing.
One thing to think about though is a statement like this on a listing will more often than not put off bidders on an auction so the item will sell for less than normal and as we all have said you are still protected in the same way as any other purchase you make from ebay so if you really want the item it might be worth a bid.
After all the usual checks of course.0
