In December I had a new Gas meter fitted as part of a national programme. My gas bill for 11 NOV 09 TO 29 JAN 2010 showed I had used 70 units my next bill from 30 Jan 2010 to 30 March 2010 showed I had used 170 units both these bills were calculated using the following
units x100 xcorrection factor 1.02264
I then changed suppliers to British Gas and have received a Bill for 174 imperial units that have a conversion to 5492.12
This has given me a bill of £143.99 for just 32 days (We were away for 6 days) . This is more gas than I used in six moths with Atlantic. I mentioned this to the person at Briitish Gas but I can't seem to get them to see this does not add up.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it. I am at my wits end.

Since your gas meter is new it should be metric meaning your bill is wrong. Contact BG and ask them to correct it.0

If you have had your gas meter changed then the new meter will be metric.
If you look at it you should see M3 clearly marked.
174 metric gas units correspond roughly to 1800 kwh which should cost around £65.
Get on to BG and get them to correct the bill. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
What type of gas meter do you actually have, imperial or metric???

If you changed to BG soon after a meter exchange the industry database is prob not updated with your new meter. This will mean an incorrect bill from BG. Check the meter serial no and reading on the bill against your meter then call BG.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Thank you I have e-mailed them Just have to wait and see how long it takes them to agree. What a relief to find people who could see there was something wrong.0

Had telephone call from BG this morning in response to my e-mail. Yes they had been charging me for imperial units and it should have been metric and a new bill is being produced.
Thanks for help0
