When you are on an expensive holiday which you save for and end up spending half of your holiday without your belongings due to the airline 'misplacing' my luggage then yes I should be more than entitled to claim money for distress/inconvinience etc. caused by their stupid error.

If you have nothing productive to say I suggest you don't bother posting on this thread and it is not 'compensation culture' whatsoever if an airline loses your belongings for your holiday which you pay a huge amount of money for then damn right I will want to claim against the airline for ruining my holiday its common sense.

I dont get it as long as the airline or insurance pay for any clothes you had to buy etc why do you want compensation other than to make you richer.

How will an amount of money (and like I said before what is the cost to you of the distress?) make any difference to what happened?

Because I paid money for a holiday and they casued me to have to trawl around shops having to buy new clothes and shoes then having to wait around the airport most of the day for them to try and find my bag etc thus losing at least a day or so if not more of my holiday... and being unable to use my things for the rest of the holiday, thanks to them 'misplacing' my luggage, I paid money for this holiday and lost some of it and expect them to pay for it - its that simple.

You obviously don't get it as you were not there or did not experience what I did.

If we all just sit back and shrug our sholders when this happens and say oh well they lost my luggage and I lost part of holiday due to it, these things happen... then these companies will never improve their ways.

I'll report back as to my response to my letter sent to emirates for those that may may find themselves in the same position.
if i had known then what i know now

I think it depends on the holiday. If it was a quick week in Spain you'd packed light and were able to replace your essentials then you would probably be happy to get back the costs of what you'd paid.

As this was a special holiday that was to celebrate a significant event and you had probably been planning this for a while and had bought and taken specific clothes and shoes which you were then unable to wear I think you should be able to be compensated for the inconvenience and distress this caused you.

I struggle to get a bikini that fits properly and if I lost my case I probably wouldn't find one abroad that did fit. This would cause me more distress than the relative loss of the price of the item.

It depends on the situation and your situation. For some people who don't wear make-up much the loss of their make-up bag probably wouldn't be a big deal but for someone who won't leave the house without it then this may spoil their holiday.

So, what kind of 'price' are you placing on your 'distress?'
