Husband redundant while I am on Maternity Leave

Hi All
I am hoping somebody can share their knowledge with me....
Since my last post on a similar subject things have changed a little and I was hoping for some advice.

Husband is on a 0 hour contract. His hours are now 0 so effectively he has no job. I am on Maternity Leave at the moment and due to give birth in 5 weeks. It now looks like I will be going back to work as soon as poss after baby is born, as I am on Maternity Allowance of £124 per week and losing hubbie's income from his job of 16 hours per week is going to make life very difficult. My job is only part time of 22 hours per week so I don't earn any more than I receive on Maternity Allowance after taking into account travel costs.

My question is: can my hubby claim JSA whilst I am on Maternity Leave? We don't receive HB/CTB so I should probably put in an application for those too, just in case they are able to help out at all. He is of course looking for another job, but that's another story!!

Any constructive advice greatly appreciated.

If he has sufficient NI contributions then he can claim contribution based JSA. If not it would be income based but he wouldnt actually get anything as your income is taken into account
