Settlements Fredrickson Int & Westcot

Hi everyone,

In an attempt to get out of debt as quickly as possible i have rang all my creditors for a settlement figure...

as we are lucky enought to have 700 ish eft over each month at moment after bills ect and min payments we decided to try and settle at least one debt a month

at the end of august we are due to settle
vodaphone debt currently £200 with wescot offered settlement of £160
tmobile debt currently £410 with fredrickson international offered sett of £307

both creditors asked me to pay over phone, as i do not have the debit/credit card facility to do so i declined, i also want something in writing first!

asked them to send me a settlement letter and it would be paid by end of the month..

that was two weeks ago...

letter from wescot stating settlement of £200 due by end of month as promised (is currently on a £25 per month plan) what happened to the £160

nothing from fredrickson int...

is this a joke???

has this happened to anyone else???

TIA:A

just a thought in order to get rid of it quickly do you know anyone who has a debit/credit card who you could give the money to and they could make the payment for you over the phone.

Having said that i do appreciate that you may not want others to know your business, just a thought tho!!

Definately get it in writing. There have been posts about people being chased for thousands that they have paid off but cant prove it.

  • I believe there is something in law that also means that if you pay a short settlement yourself, then it is not legally binding, but if they accept it from a third party it is. So it may be worth exploring whether someone else could settle the debt on your behalf.

I'll have a hunt through my law books today if I get a moment and dig out the relevant bit.

I'm having similar problems with Rockwell at the moment. I've got some money safely stored away to offer as Full and Final settlement but have been trying to negotiate with Rockwell since early June, to no avail.

I've spoken to the National Debt Line who advises to use the letter on their website to send, asking for confirmation that it is full and final and that your credit file will be marked accordingly. So far Rockwell only want to accept a debit card over the phone and have failed (despite one letter to me) to give me the confirmation I need in writing. Therefore I have not paid them (apart from regular DD).

I don't really know where to go from here so will be interested in your replies.
Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!

DO NOT DO THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! Wescot are well known for making "mistakes" once they have got hold of yours, or anyone else’s credit / debit card details.

You will also have no way of proving their offer of FULL & FINAL, and they will be chasing you for the rest next month ( if they haven’t already helped themselves to it from the card details they have!)

Please make sure you get their letter of full and final, and then pay over the counter or by cheque / postal order, again NEVER give any DCA yours or anyone else’s card details !
 It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them
