My other half has had a few incidents whilst using my car this year. not sure where i stand on renewing the car insurance now.

1 - He had an incident in October 2009 but that is now reported a closed case with the insurer but i have had nothing in writing. (no claim was made)

2 - Because of an oil spill on the road in February 2010, he bumped the bumper of the car in front. (the other side made a claim)

Then
3 - a couple of weeks after that someone bumped into us. though i have written in to tell the insurance about this third incident they still dont seem to have the details even though i put it all in writing to them. (if it going to put any delay on being able to move to another insurance company then i prefer not to claim anything at this stage - but maybe someone can give me some recommendations.

the car insurance is due for renewal today which i am tryign to sort out. however on the quotes for gocompare etc i dont know what to put down for incidents etc.

I am reluctant to speak to more than insurance who we were with this last year as they are utterly useless and even if they come up as cheapest on these sites i prefer to go with someone else. Can anyone give me any tips as i must get my car insurred asap to be able to use it. thanks

Up to then i had a 8 or 9 years no claims bonus (though have never had an accident in my life) but more than never applied my protected no claims bonus either. so i really dont know what to do .

    1. Why leave it until the last day when you knew there were issues?

    3. I think you might be better talking direct to a few insurers or a broker so that you can explain things. Comparison sites struggle with non standard cases.

Firstly, when applying for quotes from other insurers you must declare ALL accidents, fault or non-fault no matter what vehicle you were driving. Insurance companies can access a database which logs all incidents and if you failed to declare an accident when taking policy out and then you need to make a claim at some point in the future the insurer would be within their rights to null and void the policy - ie cancel all cover without refund and refuse to deal with your claim. So best to avoid this!

If you have an outstanding claim your ncb will be reduced pending settlement of the claim which obviously could affect the premium.

Did you make a claim for the incident in which someone hit you in the rear? If so was it from your own insurer or the third party? Has this claim been settled?

You may need to speak to your current insurer and ask what claims / incidents they have against you / your policy and if they have incorrect info you can get it corrected, as you don't want to tell a new insurer the wrong info.

I always assumed they were called more than as they wanted more than anyone else!!:rotfl:

    In my case anyway.

And no, I am not a poor/bad/dangerous driver. Just had a company car for 25+ years and they wouldn't accept any proof of this as a no-claims. Bell did
