Question of the Week: Easter weekend honeymoon

Q. I'm booking my honeymoon for April 2011 but have found out my wedding's Easter weekend and school holidays. Should I book now or wait last minute to get the best deal? Sandy, by email
Martin's A: Congrats on the wedding. The answer depends on what you're trying to do. If you're booking a scheduled airline flight then early tends to be cheapest (see Cheap Flights though as it's so early, I'd monitor airlines sales to see if you can get a discount (or see credit card free flights).
However, if you're getting a package last minute is far cheaper, yet that means limited choice and flexibility so there is a balance. For packages you're not going to book last minute, so book whenever they launch to get the early booking discount - though do remember to haggle, see the Cheap Package Holidays guide.
