Moving from electric only to electric + gas home?

Hi there

As the title suggests I'm moving from a house that was only electric to a house that's electric + gas, I've filled in a form for change of address with current electric suppliers but not sure what to do with the gas? All the switching companies are just that, switching, what about new customers?

You need to inform your current electricity supplier that you are moving to allow them to send you their bill (even if it's their final one) to your new address.

You need to register with the current supplier(s) at the new property on the day you move in. Once that is done, you can consider switching supplier if you wish.

When are you moving? If its is a couple of weeks time and you are happy with your current supplier them then ask them to supply you at your new address. You can also ask them to supply your gas and benefit from dual fuel discounts.

Spoke to them on the phone and it should be ok, switching my account to the new address and adding the gas based on what previous owners were paying. Didn't want anything with too much hassle for the move so will evaluate everything when we're settled.

Thanks to both of you for the replies.
