ACER Aspire 3690

Hello;

A friend of mine just upgraded her laptop to Win7 ultimate, she did a clean instal. The problem is that the webcam no longer works and the Acer website doesnt have win7 drivers yet, is there any other way to make the webcam work?

    Try the Vista drivers if they are available.
  • Plarkster, I have tried but they didnt work. I'm just thinking if there is any third party application that could make it work.

    According to the Acer website, the 3690 is not for Windows 7 and therefore doubtful they would make drivers for it.

    You may be better off finding the make and model of the webcam itself as the Acer site shows a Bison, Logitech and Suyin webcam listed for that model laptop. You could then contact the manufacturer.

    Which version of Windows 7 Ultimate has been installed - 32 bit or 64 bit? The Vista driver may work on the 32 bit version, but you'll need a proper driver if 64 bit is installed. Unfortunately you'll have to reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit if 64 bit is installed to try the Vista driver.

    If 32 bit is already installed, do what fitshase has suggested and try to find which webcam you have - I used to have that laptop and think mine had a Logitech webcam.
  • Its a 32 bit. I have tried to instal the logitech vista driver before but it didnt work.
