That's odd because you have 'dropped' (AW's phrase, not mine) three kids and now require state assistance to the tune of £185/month:

You seem to have the view that people should support themselves and their kids (quite laudable, I agree with you) and yet only so far as this affecting other people and not the benefits you receive?

How do your two opposing views sit comfortably together like this? IMHO it just smacks of hypocricy.

This has already been discussed adequately on the 'middle classes' thread, so is not really relevant here. I refer anyone interested to that thread, to continue the discussion there.

The thread seems to have gone somewhat off-topic; the aim, which succeeded perfectly for the first few pages of the thread (strangely, and entirely coincidentally I'm sure, until exactly the point at which you joined in the discussion ;)) is for fellow posters to post positive, contructive suggestions for sorting out our country's economy.

What suggestions do you have Harry?

You need to research 'de Rothchild Family'

They have kept power for many years.

Cameron Is controlled and funded by them.

Cameron is just a puppet, the shadow government you never see!

    Wake up

Asheron, whilst obviously we find your 'I hate the Rothschilds' posts equally fascinating, I don't think they are terribly relevant here, as by implication they suggest that there is no point in doing anything, because it's all 'fixed' anyway.

It would be lovely if all your anti-Rothschilds posts could be confined to just one 'conspiracy' thread.

    Thanks.

So speaks carolt, the new Economy board moderator. Mind you, most of the threads in here were created by carolt in her 'scatter gun' sort of way, so that's probably why she feels she owns the place?

I am trying to keep the thread on topic, yes.

Do I take that post as your effort at 'constructive, positive' suggestions on how to improve our country?

If it is, I think you maybe need to try harder next time - in the great scheme of things, Harry, I'm not actually very important.

You know, even if I posted no threads, I suspect the impact on our economy would be negligible. :p

Though I know it would make you, personally, deeply happy. :)

I think MSE should introduce a tax for pointless posts or ones that go off-topic.

I never said I hate de Rothschild family

Infact I admire them, someone needs to control the useless sheep :)

  • Instead of all of this mixup of income from various different benefits, surely income support should be all encombassing of everything that needs to be paid... rent food council tax etc etc etc

However this should be an amount lower than minimum wage - just enough to get by on without buying expensive games consoles. giving parents just enough money to pay rent on the smallest of flats and for the bare minimum of clothes from second hand clothing shops, however new trainers and underwear to prevent spread of any fungus/infections. basically just enough to exist and not live, and voluntary work is compulsary to obtain this benefit.

Make it so you are allowed a small amount of work to increase your quality of life. However there should be a big jump up in income to minimum wage.

The problem is that a weeks rent is sometimes a lot more than a weeks work on the minimum wage.

    SICK LEAVE.

Why not try the Canadian system?
I believe there that you have 3 weeks sickness a year allocated & if you are not off work then this leave accumulates & you can retire earlier at the end of your working days by the number of unused sick days.

paid sick leave isn't actually a legal obligation on employers. my OH doesn't get it at his workplace.
