Hey,
I have a Dell CPX Laptop. Quite old, but can easily manage basic programs. However, I do like my manager games and these need 512MB or more to run and it only has 256MB so I want to upgrade it.
I know there are specific typres of RAM, how do I find out what type I need for my laptop? And then, where would be the cheapest place to buy it?

cucial.com says this type
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=Dell%2BLatitude&mfr=Dell&tabid=AM&model=Latitude+CPx+Series&submit=Go
SDRAM, PC133 • CL=2 • Non-parity • 133MHz • 3.3V • 32Meg x 64
look round ebay, much cheaper

Finally getting around to upgrading my memory.
Will the laptop have another socket to plug a new memory upgrade into, or will I need to buy a 512MB and just replace the existing memory instead of using it in conjunction.0 -
If you go to http://www.crucial.com/uk and run a system scan/ use the system scanner it will scan and tell you what is in you laptop and if you have a spare socket.0

I have the same problem with my inspiron 1300. Do you buy a 512 unit and replace the 256 or buy another 256 to make the existing up to 512?0

Thats a fantastic site, brilliant. Thanks v.much for your help! :j0 -
Did you fine out that you have a spare socket?0

Yup!
BUT
Can only have a total of 256MB in each socket. So total I can go to is 512MB. tbh, looking further into the specs of my laptop I'm not sure its worthwhile upgrading. Its only a 500mhz processor. lol.
Might just save up to get a new laptop.
Need to find a power unit for my eMachines 420 now as im having to use my laptop instead of my main computer as it doesnt want to work. Any suggestions? lol.0
