Gas hob hose

I've just bought a new gas hob, a Bosch Classix 5 burner. The instructions state that it can be connected with a flexible metal hose. I'm guessing these aren't the ones you can buy in b and q?

It would still need connecting and testing by an RGI, so I would recommend getting it installed as per usual with copper.
I have never bought one of these flexible metal hose and wouldn't know where to get one from.0 -
According to building regulations built in gas hobs and cookers should be connected by registered Gas Installers. They are usually connected by rigid metal pipes or metal braided hoses. Stand alone cookers/hobs are connected by the flexible rubber pipes seen in B&Q, you don't need to be registered to connect these which is why B&Q sell them.
The difference is probably due to the fact that the rubber pipes fit to a bayonet fitting on the gas pipe (which should have been fitted by a pro) and are easy and quick to disconnect if there is a leak. Built in units are more difficult to disconnect & trace leaks in.0 -
You should be registered to fit a flexible hose to your cooker, as any new gas appliance fitted should have a tightness test done before the job is signed off.
Just because the likes of B&Q sell gas appliances, doesn't make it right for diy fitting.0 -
Acording the the "Gas Saftey Regulations 1998" you need to be competant to fit your own B&Q type flexi pipe on a stand alone cooker not registered. You need to be registered to accept payment for doing it.
Unless anyone has a link which would prove me wrong?0
