Am trying to transfer photos from my ipod back to my hard drive and had finally found a free transfer program ( thanks to a kind MSE poster) .
After installing the program , I then put my ipod into disk mode and connected it to my laptop. The program said that it didnt recognise my ipod ( after refreshing) and when i ran i-tunes it didnt bring my ipod up on the list and a bubble said that it may be corrupted and needed re-formatting.I assumed that this would wipe my ipod of all stuff and didnt do it.
Is there anything that I could do to get it back to being recognised on I-Tunes or is it not possible.
thanks for any advice

What is the exact message you get?
Have you tried googling it and your problem (as no doubt half a million other people seem to have experienced every single problem in the world to do with iPods)?

When I run i-Tunes , it comes up with the message Ipod may be corrupted and would i like to re-formatt it.
Think will just have to clear it and start afresh. My fault for not backing up all of my photos (have got about 60% of them on my mp4 player)

No!
Bear with me cos I'm reading and replying on iPod Touch right now, just wanted to say we had a problem with my daughter's 3rd generation iPod which I sorted out without reformatting. It's a software conflict most likely.
Which iPod is yours and what version of windows are you using on your computer?IAAR/IAAMM/MFTMFAQ/IOA6BH0 -
In case I miss your reply, I've popped onto my pc to find the page I bookmarked. This was iPod 3rd Gen on iTunes 7 and Windows XP so you might need a different page, but the apple website is pretty comprehensive and you should find what you are looking for, if not just post what you are using: iPod, iTunes version and OS.

My iTouch keeps backing itself up. Does yours ?
I only use it for iPlayer and weekly podcasts, once viewed they can go, but it backs itself up !! I do not need any backups either I have them on the HD and my server already. I would like to stop it....0 -

I have my iTunes settings set so that iTunes only opens when I ask it to (not when I plug the iPod Touch in) and within iTunes I have all my tabs set to only sync what is checked, and podcasts to only include "all new" podcasts. Not that I use podcasts often so I might be mistaken that this will help.
To set these, when you have iTunes open, and have plugged your iPod in, click on your device, you will see all the tabs (Summary, Apps, music, etc) and you can alter the settings for each one.
There are 3 of us sharing iTunes with our own devices so we use Playlists to select and 'check' each thing we want on our device when we sync. So when mine is plugged in it remembers for Music I have checked "selected playlists, artists and genres" ready for syncing. I still have to deselect all in Music folder, open my playlist, select all and check all before I can sync otherwise it will copy over all the music or someone elses' music LOL.IAAR/IAAMM/MFTMFAQ/IOA6BH0
