Bank Acc doing MA

Options
Just having a ponder really.

As we all know, when you're going into uni as an undergrad all the banks want you to have a student acc with an od and cc. They usually have some sort of incentive to join.

I had my student acc with HSBC when I was an undergrad. After I graduated it was a graduate acc and now it's gone to normal.

Are there any bank acc for post grad students, with interest free overdrafts? And if so are there any worth taking up? If there are, they are not as heavily advertised as undergrad ones!

Hope this makes sense!

  • Despite still owing £££ to HSBC after my undergraduate course, Halifax offered me a Student Account with £1000 interest free overdraft when I started my MA. Finally paid it off last month after 2 years!!

Co-op Bank offer a postgraduate account under the same terms as their undergraduate if you are studying full time. not many others will let you take out a new account, but if you were with them for your undergraduate and didn't use up all their allowance, they may be able to offer you another year or so (e.g. HSBC allow you 4 years on their student account, I used 3 for my undergraduate and was offered another 1 year of the student account even though I've been on the graduate account for a year).

Can I apply to more than one bank for an interest free student loan??
  • Lloyds TSB do a 3 year interest free overdraft on their graduate account(you have to have graduated within the last three years).
