You are probably missing the dual fuel discount0 -
Hi,
I bought a cunning device that you plug into a wall socket then the applinace into that. It then shows you the running costs of that appliance. Some very salutory lessons.
I got the plug from TCHIBO for a £5.

You may well find that it is actually cheaper to get your gas and electricity from 2 different suppliers. We get our gas from Scottish power (meantime), and our electricity from Scottish Gas. Your unit cost on the electricity is very high, we pay 7.309p for our last units.(plus 5% VAT)0

I have one of those, they are good. Unfortunately they now appear to not stock them at least online they dontLittleJo wrote:Hi,

I used to, (up until 2 weeks ago) have a key meter in a rented flat and this drained the £££ something cronic but because we could see what the amount left was we could see what used up a lot of power. It may have just been a defective ones but the 4 plug adapters we had (would only use one of the 4 things it was the extension we needed) used up a lot of power. Do you use these?
Also we have turned off our sky box every night and morning for over a year and it still works fine...0 -
the simple answer is a comuter, tv, anything electrical will use eclectic if it is plugged in. If you unplug at night the power used is reduced so is the risk of electrical started fires (i once used £45 power surge adapter for my tv,sterio, sky etc. i had it on all the time one evening we smelt burning the extension soket was so hot in was burning into the carpet the plug was not faulty if it happend 2 hours later the place would have burnt down.
Unplugging stuff is going to save you money and increases your saftey etc.THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0 -
Doesn't sound right to me, should make no difference at all, and if it drew excess current due to a short it should have blown a fuse, so I would have been interested in finding out what was going on there.ems2 wrote:. Maybe the newer ones are more robust.so we have turned off our sky box every night and morning for over a year and it still works fine...0
