I've been using Last FM mainly to find and listen to new music but keep hearing good things about Spotify. Does spotify also recommend music you might like based on what you are listening to or are they two completely different services?

Just realised I should have put my dissatisfaction with Spotify in a new post, and not edited my old one.
So far, things are not going well.
