Liverpool Victoria

Options
Liverpool Victoria no longer paying interest on credit balances on their credit card from 3 October. The only reason I can think of to keep the card now is in case Nationwide start charging for purchases in the EU. Or if you use the LV Rewards Programme I suppose.

  • I may be missing something here but I have never seen the attraction of pre loading a credit card to earn credit interest because to me it then seems you are just spending your own money.
Why not put the cash into the best earning savings account you can find and take advantage of up to 56 days free interest on purchases?
  • I can't say I'm surprised, LV managed to lose a lot of money from their credit cards.

When I worked there, they brought out the credit card and offered money off vouchers for their car insurance policies when you took out card - of course they target the over 40s market so all the oldies took out the card, got their £30 discounts (thank you very much) and then never used the card again! :rotfl:

    LV make me laugh...:D
    Debt 2007 £17k :(

    Current Debt approx £7.5k :)

Target - to pay off all debts by 2020 :A

It used to be useful if you were going abroad and wanted to use your credit card to withdraw cash and avoid paying interest on it. But now debit cards have Visa so I suppose it makes more sense to have the money in your current account, and withdraw it from there in any case.

Also, some possible use if you could make a cheap balance transfer to a credit card, but not to a bank account.

But in fact I never did have a credit balance on my LV card.
  • I believe Liverpool Victoria (also known as Frizzell) have decided to swap some products with Morgan Stanley. This means that LV cards will be issued by Morgan Stanley in the near future, if they're not already.
