Paypal mistake!! credit withdrawal/fund

Hello everybody,

Just got back from holiday & found below email from paypal :-

We are writing to advise you that due to a technical error, withdrawals you made from your PayPal account to your bank account on the 23 and 24 July were inadvertently credited to your bank account twice. This will have resulted in you receiving an amount in your bank account that is double the amount you instructed PayPal to withdraw from your PayPal account.

To rectify this error, on the 5 August, we deducted the duplicate credit from the balance of your PayPal account.

If you are concerned that this debit may have left your PayPal balance with less funds available than you require, we advise that you add the duplicate credit that we made to your bank account to your PayPal account. You can do this by going to the “Add Funds” tab from the Account Overview page.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this error may have caused you. Our team is working with our banking partners to ensure that this does not happen again in the future. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to call us on 08707 307 191.

My question is : at the moment it looks like I am owing them and as I didn't sign up d/debit with them they will not be able to claim it back from my bank. Whenever I purchased anything from ebay, 85% of the time I paid by credit card - paypal.

As they know by law, they are not allowed to take any money out from my bank account without my authorisation. The only way they can get their money back from me is when I sold something & get paid via paypal (which seldom happened).

Do any of you have the same situation like mine? Did you pay them back yet? I don't think it is theft is it? I mean they transfer the money to my bank account.

    If it were me.. lol..

I would e-mail them and tell them

"refunds typicaly take 14 days to process... but in exeptional circumstances can take up to 28 days to appear in your account..

All refunds are subject to a 5% or £5 min processing fee."

    A taste of their own..

(Can any one tell I am having abad day.... :-) )
