Plumbing fittings (US vs UK standards)

Hi everyone. Any ideas on how I can fit a 7/8" (I think it's called female) plumbing screw onto a UK standard 15mm water source. This is for a shower fitting that I bought from the US and fitting myself. I have tried looking at some sort of a convertor from 7/8" to 1/2" but was told by everyone I visited that there is no way that this can be done. Can I use something to stick the fittings together rather than screw them? I am getting desparate and would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance for any help.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

US plumbing uses NPT threads, but 7/8" is not listed.
Refrigeration uses UNF threads and does include 7/8".0 -
If you know someone with access to a centre lathe they might be able to turn you up a suitable fitting that has the necessary different threads to suit.0

Try these http://www.die-pat.co.uk/products/plumbing_components/
All their taps(Faucets} are made in the USA,.
I have/do use the taps, and the supply BSP adaptors.0
