Epson MultiFunction & Windows 7 - Help!

My parents have an Epson SX100 MFP which is recognised fine in Windows 7 but wouldn't print. I've updated the driver via Epson's website - pulling down the latest and greatest - and the system sees the printer and recognises it as the model.
When printing, it spools, and sits at 'printing'. The Status Monitor says that the ink cartridges cannot be recognised. These are 4 genuine Epson cartridges in the printer, however, and were recognised fine on Sunday on the old XP machine it was installed upon.
Has anyone else with an SX series Epson had such a problem? I've uninstalled the printer completely, removed all Epson traces from the registry, reinstalled the driver, added the printer and no joy. I've turned the status monitor off so that it stops monitoring the ink before printing, but it still does nothing.
I can't believe I'm considering reverting my parents back to XP just to stop them whinging at me!

If it worked in XP previously, try installing it in Compatability Mode for XP, which does not answer the question as to why Epson's new drivers won't function properly on your machine, but might get you going.
(Uninstall the drivers, then find the driver install file and right click on it, click on Properties, then Compatability and then tick the box marked "Install in Compatability Mode For :" and choose Windows XP).0 -
have you checked on epsons site if its compatible?
i have an old HP all in one that doesnt really work under viat/7
you can do a work around to make it work but i real terms its not compatible0 -
Tonight's task will be to install the drivers in XP Compatibility mode (I'd forgotten about that - thanks David!).
Epson says that the printer is compatible in Win7.
This makes me wonder if there's an actual problem with the printer given that it's not recognising any of the cartridges. I'll swap it back onto the old XP machine to check later, which will give me an answer either way...0
