Is it possible to backdate child tax credits?

Hello,
I have a bit of a query that I would really appreciate help with. My little boy is now 18 months old. I went back to work when he was 6 and a half months old and my partner is now at home with him whilst I work. On 3 evenings a week we are like ships in the night with me coming home and him going out to work but it all works nicely and my little boy has the best of both worlds.
We receive child benefit but have never claimed anything else and I'm not sure whether we are entitled or not. My question is does anyone know whether we are entitled to child tax credits / working tax credits (are these different?) and if so are we able to back claim the payment?
Any response really appreciated thanks.

How much do you earn?
How much does you husband/pertner earn?
How many hours do work per week (I think you must work at least 16 hours between you)?0 -
Backdating is limited to 3 months in all but the most extreme circumstances. Apply now, get your 3 months backdating, and forget about the other 15 months!0

I work full time whilst my partner works 9 hours one week and 17 the next. Should I be claiming working tax credits or child tax credits or are they the same thing?
THanks,

Altho the backdating in most cases is limited to 3 months you should get your tax credit in even if it is only worth £10 a week . The reason jfor being on the system is so that if say you had to give up work and your household income was severly affected then the backdate would be taken from the financial year , rather than the 3 month jrule.0

You can claim both at the same time, however it is dependent on income as WTC as a lower income threshold limit than CTC. Try www.entitledto.co.uk for a rough guide.I work full time whilst my partner works 9 hours one week and 17 the next.
