Ppi reclaiming

Hi everyone

I have my complaint with the Financial Ombudsman who have had the complaint for well over a year. They accepted my application form which I sent in 2008 to complain against PPI on loan with Nationwide- loan now paid off. It was a joint loan with ex husband. The ombudsman kept sending me updates to say they were looking into complaint.

Now they are saying they need ex husband's signature on complaint form to go ahead with investigation. I can not get his signature- he abandoned me and kids in 2004 and went abroad to work so CSA could not touch him!! Left me with debts and large mortgage.

Does anyone know whether this is actually the case and that he needs to sign form as well. We have a joint mortgage account , so any compensation from PPI mis selling would be paid into that account which is obviously in joint names.

PLEASE HELP :(

    Hi Molly

    Sorry to hear this.

As it was joint at the time then they require these details.

Is there anyone in your ex's family that would be nice enough to contact him on your behalf?

    Thanks di3004 for your reply.

Unfortunately there is only his mother and I don't feel able to approach her with something like this.

It is a shame as I was hoping to use any compensation to lower my mortgage a bit !!

    Thanks again

Have you spoken to the FOS at all to ask if they can advise in any way as they are requesting the signature? Anything is worth a try.

Is Nationwide aware of your circumstances, although not sure they'd want to help in a case against them.

    Good luck!!

    Hi dec22

FOS are aware that I am unable to contact my ex husband but have told me I can not make a complaint without his signature. Nationwide have basically said I have no claim against them so you are right in thinking that they would not want to help!!

    Thanks anyway

Hi Molly - hope you don't mind me saying this & I don't want to upset you but anything you win back will be half his if the loan was in joint names & as far as I know any cheques will be in the name of the person first mentioned in the agreement

    Hi finatra26

Thanks for your reply. Does that mean that if I do manage to get his signature then the cheque for any compensation would be in his name and not be able to be paid into a joint mortgage account?

    regards

I think that all our mutual friends are disgusted with the way that he
has behaved and would not give him the time of day!
