Train Ticket Refund Question
Hi,
Quick question about train ticket refunds.
My original plan was to travel from Manchester to London and back tomorrow. I saw a cheap first class ticket in the evening and booked this, planning to buy a standard class ticket for the other portion of the journey later when I knew what time I needed to set off.
Plans changed, and I was going to be going to London on Wednesday instead. Virgin wouldn't let me get a refund on the original first class ticket, so I just bought a new open return ticket for Wednesday. I bought this new ticket at the station.
However, plans have changed back again and I need to be in London tomorrow. Am I best purchasing a new outward single ticket, or going to the station tomorrow morning with my tickets for Wednesday and trying to rearrange? If I buy a new single ticket, can I get a refund on the unused ticket for Wednesday?
To be clear, I have:
* First Class Advance Ticket for London to Manchester on 18th May 2010. (cost £30.05)
* Return ticket from Manchester to London on 19th May 2010. (cost £43.70)
I need:
* Outward single ticket from Manchester to London on 18th May.
What's the cheapest way of sorting this? I don't need to travel on the 19th anymore.

You can change any ticket for another on the same route (and direction of travel of course) on payment of a fee of £10 and any difference in fare. You must do it before the original journey departs.
So yes off to the station with you tomorrow.0
