Yes, folks, on PAYDAY (last big bucks payday!) I am PAYING OFF THE LOAN!!!
And then I will be debt free! and penniless!
My outgoings are...
mortgage 413
council tax (inc. discount) 143
house insurance
(changed through this site last year) 27
car insurance
(also changed, roll on 4 yrs no claims!) 32
gas and electricity
(changed and £12 cashback) 47
critical illness cover
(keeping it cos I've a higher than most chance of having
one and it wasn't pre-exisiting at the time) 17
phone and internet 35
factor (inescapable) 9
TV licence 11
Petrol (best guess for new job) 60
TOTAL = 794
Plus annual costs
road tax and servicing car 250
contact lenses (from states) 160
birthdays etc - going home made so 100
prof. membership fees (keeping in case I go back
to this career) 80
dentist (going back to NHS) 30
hobby group membership 80
TOTAL = 700 = 59 per month
New income = £181 per week = 724 per month
Plus tax rebate = £150 per month
Plus from emergency fund £100 per month = £974 per month
Also 'attendance allowance' works out at about an extra £60 a month but I don't know if I'll get it yet cos I don't know if I'll be ill!
So I think that gives me £121 for food/ socialising/ holiday savings? Which should be doable.
The 'emergency fund' is £1800 'extra' from backclaim of expenses, etc. It's to help me out while I'm looking for something *perfect* jobwise. Which, if I can't get by April (end of tax rebates), I might have to think about a lodger.
Hmm. It looks a bit grim, but not as grim as a year and a half a go when I was unemployed with no savings and all the above PLUS £789 of loan repayments a month...
So I think my plan is
1) get fit and healthy and enjoy working locally! No travel, woohoo!
2) Make damn sure I get through probation period
3) Make damn sure I get the attendance bonus
4) keep applying for LOCAL jobs in things I enjoy
5) ask for lots of overtime
6) see if I can get them to promote me
7) If none of the above work, invest some of savings (or crimbo present from folkss, they will help!) in study to break into new line of work.
Phew! All tired after that. Nice bath, then off to asda for heaps of tinned fruit!
And then I will be debt free! and penniless!

Well done - I am sure that you will not be penniless for long!I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
