Cannot uninstall Norton

I am attempting to help a friend with their Toshiba laptop which is approx 3 years old. Anyway we have used the Recovery disc and taken it all back to the original BUT it came with 90 days free Norton and we do not want it but the "uninstall" refuses to work. We cannot install McAfee while Norton is in place. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions?
Don't install McAfee, try either Avira, Avast or MSE.0 -
I 2nd both suggestions, use NORTON REMOVAL TOOL and do NOT install Mcafee in its place:idea:0

All done - many thanks. Why don't any of you like McAffee? I have never had any problems with it.0

That's because your PC will be crawling with infections it has missed, and of which you are blissfully unaware.
If you don't believe me, uninstall it (temporarily if you must), download and install Avira (free) or Kaspersky (free 30 day trial) and see how many things it picks up.No free lunch, and no free laptop

It slows all computers down and crucially is very poor at capturing infections (Especially malware):idea:0 -
