    Eraser seems to work fine although I did read that the official goverment recommendation for removing all data from a hard drive was burning. The use of a hammer is not necessaryily secure.

    Though like someone has said, you can make the data difficult to retrieve with most applications. But if someone is determined to see what's on a particular harddrive, then there will always be something they can retrieve.

    It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.
