German property fund

Hi All,

Just would like to know if there is any German property fund that I can buy through a UK broker? I can't find one.

Thanks.

Nothing on the unit trust front specifically (a few which are European but not country focused) but you will probably find REITs/ITs which are a little more focused.

Dawnay Day Treveria (DTR.L) is listed on AIM and invests in German commercial property. Speymill Deutsche Immobilien (SDIC.L) is also listed on AIM and invests in German residential property. Bear in mind these are small, illiquid companies, so investing in them (and selling out of them) may be difficult/expensive. In addition, they use quite high levels of gearing to enhance returns - but this of course increases risk. In addition, as they are listed on AIM, you won't be able to put them in an ISA.

    Thanks.

The 2 stock look a bit too volatile for me but I will monitoring them for a while to see how they perform.

    Cheers.

If you fancy a bit more mainstream and less focused, the SWIP Euro Real Estate fund may be worth a look.

This isnt a recommendation (in a case a mod is watching). Its basically the only mainstream unit trust/oeic fund in that field so it is named on that basis rather than a "best of" whatever. The fact it happens to form part of my portfolio shouldnt be seen as any recommendation ;)
