Buyer not received/moved house

A couple of weeks ago I sold a vintage item of low value, but the buyer to a week and me opening a case to pay.

I posted the item second class and two weeks on he contacts me to say he hasn't received.

Have asked him to check sorting office, and address and it turns out that he moved a week ago  but assures me he is getting his mail from old house.

I guess I have no option but to refund ,but do I get my fees from ebay refunded as well? I don't know why he didn't just tell me to hold it until he got to his new place.

Did you send it via a trackable method? If so, and he files an Item Not Received claim via Paypal you should win the case if it tracks as delivered or even attempted delivery I think.

You will have to refund but assuming you have a certificate of posting you can claim your loss form Royal Mail.Once you have refudned the buyer there is no harm in trying to do a mutual to reclaim your FVFs, your paypal fees are fully refunded when you refund the original payment .

I have refunded the buyer the full amount, so should get paypal fees back, but how do I get my ebay fees back. Does the buyer have to open a case or do I? (I tried to open one but it said that one was already closed)

No I didn't send it trackable and don't even have a return address on it, so no chance of getting it back now. (will always put my address on now)

Ah yes, I missed the bit about you having already opened and closed a case. In that case I'm sorry but you've lost your FVFs as you can't now open another case, not even a mutual.
