Utility Warehouse (Telecom Plus) Discussion

Utility Warehouse currently have a leafleting campaign in our area followed up by door-to-door visits.
I don't know what the rep says when she calls, but the leaflet certainly gives the impression they will fit your house with LED bulbs for free, no strings attached.
There is reference in the small print to a club or clubs, but even the small print doesn't explicitly state that the 'offer' is dependent on changing your utility provider.
I don't know how local these leaflet are?? I know the partner/marketing sales programme is perfectly legal, but some of the marketing seems questionable..0 -

found this on their website re the Free ? Light Bulbs.
This service is only available to owner-occupiers who take our Double Gold bundle. We'll change all the light bulbs in your home provided we have an LED equivalent, and your existing bulbs are safely and easily accessible. The typical value of £300-£500 is based on 39 LED bulbs at an average retail price of £8 plus a £100 charge for fitting. Lifetime Guarantee only applies provided you have your landline, broadband and mobile services with us on the date you request a replacement; otherwise a three year warranty applies. Other exclusions apply (see full T&Cs). 15% saving based on a typical household using 3,100 kWh of electricity, where 39 traditional light bulbs are changed to LEDs, with an average reduction of 45W per light bulb (eg. from 50W to 5W) and where each LED light bulb is used for an average of 45 minutes per day. If we fit new LED light bulbs in your home and you cease to take your landline, broadband or mobile services from us within the following four years, you’ll need to pay a contribution towards the cost of the LED bulbs we provided. The size of this contributions varies between £2 - £8 per bulb, depending on how long your bulbs have been installed. This offer can be withdrawn at any time.
† Available to homeowners and tenants that are over 30 years old and take a smart meter from us.0 -

I knew what the deal was from the web - my point was that you would definitely not know this from the leaflet, that it seemed like misleading advertising, and was wondering how localised the leaflets were...0 -
Hi, I would like to contact or be contacted by someone who has a broadband connection with less than 4Mb/s and how Utility Warehouse responded to your complaints. Thanks.Sunshine is free & gives you vitamin D.0

How the hell do you get the sales people to leave you alone? Currently being harassed by a close friend and short of swearing at them, I'm running out of ideas on how to get them to stop asking. Just won't take no for an answer.
They're like Diefenbaker from Due South.

Point out how much cheaper everyone else is?

I've tried that. But that is like a stop sign in the desert, and does little to dissuade them.0

Bluntness it is then. Point out that you like value for money and friends who don't preach 24/7 about their cult-that-pays. Perhaps also remind them that treating friends as a source of commission income whilst signing them up for a poor value product is a shoddy way to behave.
Then swear!!4 -
So when I first joined Utility warehouse I was paying £120 for gas and electric. Now I’ve had a smart meter put in they are trying to state I’ve used £383 in one month, I wouldn’t mind if I lived in a mansion but it’s a 4 bed semi detached house with 2 adults 2 children! I’ve left and my daily average is now £3 a day!

Forget £'s and DD - what is your annual consumption ? Typical gas is 10000 kWh, electric 3000 kWH
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
