Virgin now distribute their HD content for free whereas Sly still charge £10 for it, so you could try pointing that out when you call.

Sly will then launch in to their standard spiel about how they have so many more HD channels (which is true), but what they don't tell you is that not all of their HD content actually originates in HD.

I also don't consider 1080i to be true HD, but Sly will argue till the cows come home that it is - that is something you can decide for yourself.

What do you consider to be true HD?

Be wary with this, for some of the stuff, they still require you to have multi room.

I turned on the xbox a while ago to see i could watch sky through it. The found I need to pay for multiroom first!!

    Bit of a con really

Is that a very recent restriction? my friend has a sky subscription at their apartment, non-multiroom but whenever they were over at my place we can get Sky player on my PC no trouble at all?

Phone them and tell them your thinking about taking some of the channels away as it's costing too much, they'll give you a 20% reduction over the phone for 6 months and then tell you to call them back in 6 months for another 'offer'...thats what i did in Jan and i'll be just as cheeky next month :)
Finally The Rock has come back to MSE....

    1080p

The difference between the two is the way the signal is sent from the source (in this case, the Sky box).

1080i sends the video frames alternately in "odds & evens" (eg, line 1, line 3, line 5, and so on), with the missing lines (line 2, line 4, line 6, etc) being sent afterwards.

1080p transmits the video frames progressively, which means that all the frames end up being displayed simultaneously - which results in a much smother image free of artifacts & jagged edges (which are most noticeable on dark scenes).

Those who have a television that is labelled "HD Ready" won't see the difference as HD Ready sets are invariably only 1080i capable, those that have true HD sets can see the difference (assuming their eyesight is up to scratch of course).
Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.

Thanks I know what the difference is just wondered what you considered to be "true" HD

Bring back film! (I know that has nothing to do with the transmission system)
