Going to University - need financial advice!

I’m currently waiting to see if I have a place on an Access to Higher Education Course with the view to going to University to study Occupational Therapy.
I’ve had a look into what burseries are available to me as I have 3 children, but could do with further advice about things like whether I can claim housing benefit (I’m married – my husband earns £20k a year). We need all the help we can get!
Also, can you claim tax credits whilst at University? Any help of what you can / can’t claim for – whether we’d be able to claim whilst my husband earns £20K etc would be great.
My kids will all be at school next year – the youngest is 2, the eldest is 7.
Thanks

The only people who can claim benefits when at university (apart from tax credits) are lone parents and the disabled. Your husband will certainly be able to apply for tax credits - do you not claim them now?
You will also get a the 25% single adult reduction on your council tax as soon as you start your course. Have you looked at whether you are eligible for ALG whilst doing Access?0
