LHA claim taking a while.......

Hi
I applied for LHA and council tax benefit on 6th April, and it seems to be taking a while to process.
They have written to me twice in this time (2nd letter received today) asking for more information-the info they have requested in this letter recived this morning is further to info required on the 1st letter, not previously requested.
I knew it might not be straightforward as I was self employed, but it has been 6 weeks and looks like I am no closer to receiving any assistance.
Is there some sort of timetable/timescale, as I am in desperate need to pay my rent now..........

This is why you shouldnt rely on housing benefit paying your first lot of rent after you apply. All sorts of questions might need answered hence its not straightforward and quick. Take in the info they require yourself and get a receipt and then wait a week or so then give them a call and see if its progressed any further0

Easy to say I shouldn't rely on it, but when OH leaves me as a newly self employed mum at 8 weeks pregnant, I do not have many options do I?!
They have asked for income and expenditure. Now based on the fact that they have had my bank statement etc, should I assume they mean business income and expenditure.
Additional to this, I have stopped trading now (as of Friday) and have written to tell them this, I understand our letters crossed in the post.
So not sure what to do? have tried to call, but cannot get through at the minute.0 -
So what is your income now?Have you got a job? If so supply them with your contract untill you start getting payslips
You will need to contact your landlord in the mean time and explain what has happened, always keep them up to date0 -

you should be getting maintenance from your kid/s father!
i know its little comfort right now but once it comes through it will be backdated to when you claimed.0 -

I do get it.........sometimes. Pays for a month or 2, then he walks out of his job for 6 moths, then I get a little bit more.........it's not money that can be relied on :eek:0
