Cheaper trains with more changes...

I want to go from Cheltenham to Blackpool on the 29th returning the next day but I am trying to get it as cheap as possible and wondered if anyone knows where to change to get it as cheap as possible. I don't mind how many changes or how long it takes.

Thanks

If you don't mind how long it takes, get the bus. Not looked it up but I would imagine one change in Birmingham

With trains it's not changes that matter, it's what ticket you buy.

I'd suggest you look at what advance singles are available for the complete journey - normally that's cheapest when they are there.

Then look at split tickets - Birmingham and Preston are the most obvious splitting points. Alternatively Manchester but it's a less direct route.
