Hi guys,
I have been looking at a year 2000 Kia Clarus which looks very nice and the owner tells me it has very good fuel consumption- around 40mpg.
Could anyone tell me if this is true with these vehicles as it looks good and if the fuel consumption is correct would be nice to buy. However in these times when fuel is getting more expensive I would not want to buy something which eats fuel.
Hoping anyone can help?

A ten year old Kia, probably using 20 year old engine design. 40mpg from a 1.8 petrol? Not a hope.
The latest modern 1.8 petrols struggle to beat that.0 -
Thanks for that info also. So what could we expect from this type of car? 30 plus+ or less?0

Less than 30 I'd imagine. 25 mpg is the average quote from testing a brand new engine in conditions than many cars fail to match in real life use, an engine would lose its efficiency with age too(although a good service would help).0

Thanks again. I have decided not to buy.0
