Missed payment - internet mess up

Options
Hi all
I'm fairly new to posting so forgive if I seem a bit rusty. I wondered if any of you could help please?

I was looking at my bank account today and was surprised that I had more in that I thought I should. My joy was short lived when it appeared my credit card payment hadn't been taken for August.

I paid the Natwest CC payment through the payments option on my Natwest online account on the 1st August and recieved online confirmation that this had been accepted. (I usually do a 'print screen' to keep a record of this but didn't on this occasion - doh!).

I called the cc people as soon as I realised today and made the payment again after confirming that no payment had originally been taken. I have a very good credit rating with no defaults etc. However a couple of months back I made a payment via the same method but misjudged the time it took to reach my account by one day which resulted in a late payment fee which they halved for me. They could not do that this time which I understood as they obviously had no proof that I paid.

I am just really concerned now that this will have a really bad effect on my credit rating as my interest free period runs out in November and I will be wanting to switch to another 0% deal with another provider. Does anyone think I will have problems with this, I have never had problems before and am just worried I will have messed things up and will be stuck with a card with high interest once the interest free period runs out if I can't switch. I have other very good credit, mortgage, phone, the usual etc.

I am planning on paying double the minimum payments anyway for the next couple of months - does anyone think this would help when the next deal provider considers me?

Also, I am definite that I paid the original payment, however when I called the bank tonight to ask them if they could give me an idea of what happened they couldn't as I had no proof and nothing was showing on their system. I know I should have been more vigilant and do check my account daily so am gutted that I didn't pick up on this earlier but I would be interested to know if this has happened to anyone else.

You help/advice would be much appreciated!!

Oh, and by the way, for those wondering why I don't pay by direct debit - I have learned my lesson today and do now!!! :rotfl:

Many thanks
Clare

Some people say that one missed payment shouldn't affect your credit rating too much. However, you have missed 2 of your 5 or 6 payments so far with this card. In my opinion, this will affect your chances of another 0% card with 'some' providers in November.

Finally, have you checked with NatWest that they haven't withdrawn your 0% promotion, as many providers do if you don't comply with the T&C's?
  • Thanks Yorkshie boy will check - am pretty worried now!

Natwest are quite good at keeping the 0%, yet if you miss a payment, they will in most if not all cases, lower your credit limit. £100 was taken off my credit limit, dispite natwest not physically sending me a statement, which I called and queried about, and it'll be recalculated in a few months apparently.

Wasn't there someone else last week who said exactly the same thing happened with Natwest online banking?
