Any main dealer will be able to sort out a warranty issue0

depends who the warranty is with. if its a new car then any franchise for that marque will do0

The garage I bought my car and warranty from has since ceased trading, so when the engine management light came on recently I took the car to a local dealers. They set up the claim with the warranty company over the phone for me, but because the dealers did not have a contract with the warranty company I had to pay for the repair and claim the money back.0

I assumed the OP was referring to a manufacturer warranty, not an aftermarket one.0

An aftermarket warranty is normally an insurance policy.
This means you are likely to have all the protection provided by the Financial Services and Markets Act.
There is no reason why the insurer should not meet a claim provided it is covered by the terms of the policy (i.e. warranty) but you would probably be able to take any dispute you could not resolve satisfactorily with them to the Financial Ombudsman Service0 -
Yeah I just meant manufacturers warranty when buying a new car.0
