This is rubbish. Their warranty and returns policy is absolute and without question unless your account has a pattern of buying and returning goods. They tried this with me on a refrigerator I bought as it had developed a fault after nearly 2 years. I complained to the US head quarters by email and got a call from the store GM saying there must been some misunderstanding at the CS. they refunded the refrigerator and also treated me to lunch at the store. So if you are refused a refund under any spurious reasons complain to USA via email and give them a copy of the returns policy from the US website which basically says unlimited time for return and this is supposed to be global policy.0 -
As a member only store, their returns policy is geared to keeping you the member happy. They often go above & beyond what is required & expected of them because of this.0

interesting thread this, and perhaps going off topic a bit - but...
i bought a kayak from costco a few weeks ago, it was the last one so they said they'd knock off another 10%.
i paid by chip/pin so i just stuck my number in at the appropriate time, the supervisor used his key to override the system price, and i left.
only when i got home did i notice on my reciept that i'd only paid £70 ish quid instead of £160ish. a few days later the suprvisor called me at home explaining that there'd been a mistake and could i pop in to pay the balance.
i queried who's problem it was and why should i and he replied that he couldnt make me...
i asked trading standards and they said you could argue it either way and they could only get the rest by taking me to small claims court.
i called them and in a bid to stay a costco member offer a gesture of goodwill if they would match it and meet them half way. i pay an extra £50 if they let me off the other £50.
they agreed to that and we're all happy( ish ) anyone got any comments or similar experiences...?0
