To be honest, I doubt lowering the suspension, adding a "high performance" air filter, alloy wheels, sports exhaust etc have made much difference to a Corsa. If there was a crime committed here, it was against good taste....

Probably, but the biggest change is that modified Corsas have an increased accident rate over bog standard ones. Why- as the modified ones are the ones more likely to be hooning around town centres and trying to race folks- not the same streetcred in a 1 litre basic model!

Whilst it is probably likely that there was fronting (modified car to a mother), that isn't flagged by the article- probably because they can no longer prove it, but the modifications are a far easier win.

Someone died because of a culmination of small errors.

And very probably a large error of his own - failure to wear a seatbelt.

Seen a similar one like this, Not a fatal accident just a minor one, Car was registered to the father 40/50 who had a company mercedes but had just insured a small hatch and soon after added his daughter onto the policy.
After the accident the car was inspected & everything inside the car was pink & fluffy.

The refused to payout. Would have thought they have to pay out 3rd party costs and then have to claim it back themselves?

They probably have had to pay the third party claim out under the Road Traffic Act, the court case is likely to be trying to recover their outlay from the policyholder

Amateur error. If you're going to get in to fronting, you don't go modding your car. And make sure your radio is tuned in to saga fm permantently and you have a pack of baby wipes in the glove box. Plod will never believe its a teenagers car that way.

Indeed. It's pretty obvious that a Corsa with black wheels, lowered suspension, a fat exhaust and blacked out windows is not mainly driven by a 50 year old lady.
