I am a teacher, currently in an IVA which is going to fail. Can teachers still keep their jobs if they are bankrupt. I don't have any financial duties.

Absolutely, I read of a teacher here who kept his job. Had I still worked I would have kept my job although special needs staff not a teacher (headmater is a friend and knows about BR) You can't be a governor though (as far as I remember) but i'm guessing you're not anyway because you said you have no financial responsibilites.0

Agreed....shouldnt be an issue seen many people pass through here in the same situation as yourselfWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Many Thanks, I have never felt so worried about anything in my life. Do your employers find out you are bankrupt?0

Not unless your contract has the word bankruptcy in it...they have no need to know otherwiseWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Hi curlwurly
I'm a teacher who's considering bankruptcy. I got confirmation from the NUT that being bankrupt does not debar you from working as a teacher. There is also information and advice on the Teacher Support Network.
I'm not sure about employers as I am working as supply. I have told my agency that I am considering BR and there wasn't a problem.
Hope it all works out right for you.0 -
