I wired a room to accomodate 8 users, as there was only 6 ports left on the switch (cisco) i made 2 doubles live then one from each of the last two doubles,
all worked fine until i placed a cable (cat 5 ) into the last double, as soon as i did the whole room went down ?
and came back on 5 mins later ?
i tried a new cable in the last double and the same thing happened ?
anyone had a similar experience ?
ive now isolated the last double tap and the room is working fine

Can't do that.
Its not like mains extension cables. Stay with the 6 ports or another 2/4/6/8/24/48 port switch. It's like the family car, everyone wants to use it at exactly the same time, fight no one wins.0
