Expedia hotel change policy

It seems Expedia have a policy of no charge for cancellations or changes up until midnight two days before the start of the booking and then it's a charge equivalent to 1 nights accommodation up until check-in, then up 100% charge if changed after check-in.

Two questions:
1. I have a hotel booked Monday-Friday, if I can't get there on the Monday because of volcanic ash can I easily change it to Tuesday-Friday or would I have to cancel and rebook?
2. The 100% charge applies after check-in. Does this mean if the hotel allow you to check in from 2pm that it applies from 2pm on that day?

    Given what's happening today I could see that taking a long time to get through to them to check on their policy. Then the OP would have to do it all over again if their flight is actually cancelled tomorrow.
