The dark bits are just the moss dying. Give it a few weeks and it should be nice and green again.0

Yes do persist. Sprinkle a few packets of grass seed over your lawn if you want it to look greener faster.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Granular weed and feeds don't always dissolve properly and you can end up scorching the lawn in places. The only remedy is do what you are doing - keep watering, watering, watering the brown patches to dilute the chemical.
This has happened to me. I lived with an unsightly horrible mess of a lawn for one season but by the end of August it was fine. I vowed never to use weed and feed ever again.
In places where it was really bad I got some turf from other parts of garden, dug up and lifted out the brown patch and replaced it with the healthy turf. I covered it with a smattering of topsoil so that it bedded in quite nicely. The other brown patches repaired themselves.
Having said that, I think your weed and feed is just doing its job: it has killed the weedy areas and those are the brown patches. Iit's just a question now of whether you can live with it and let Mother Nature repair the lawn or whether you can't live with it and want to re-seed or replace the patches.
One thing's for sure. Unless you've not followed the instructions on the packet, your lawn is not dead - but the weeds are. Rake them off, water the patches and relax (if you can!).

I over did mine and got large brown patches but after a few weeks it came back to life dont give up, worse can happen is reseed the patches and careful watering best with a sprinkle it will come back to life in 3-4 weeks
By the way dont save the grass cuttings in compost heep bin them or give them to green collection when council come0 -
