Holiday Club in Malta

Porto Azzura/ClubMalta/Northern Star Travel

I've just returned from a holiday in Malta, where I went to a presentation on the above holiday club and paid a membership deposit. The balance being due in August after which I am entitled to 12 weeks of holidays in 2 bedroom 5 star apartments over 35 months.

Does anyone have experience or knowledge of this holiday club?
Is it a scam?
and if so how do I get out of it?

Questions to ask before you part with a deposit IMHO.

Have you tried googling: Porto Azzura/ClubMalta/Northern Star Travel?

Yes it's a scam. Holiday clubs ALWAYS but ALWAYS are.

I have no knowledge or experience of this one but why should it be any different?

Ive no knowledge of this one either, but No, they aren't ALWAYS a scam. Well known brands such as Hilton, Sheraton, Wyndham, MacDonalds all run holiday clubs.
There are hundreds of thousands of people perfectly happy being members of holiday clubs.
Sometimes people who sign up to these when they either cant afford it or do it on the spur of the moment scratch card win, may feel they have been "scammed" but many others after due dilligence choose to join various member only clubs

I think you will find that as its 35 months its not covered by normal Timeshare regulations.Did you not think 35 months was a strange period?

and for £x i was promised 12 weeks 5 star self catering accommodation for 6 over 3 years.
    The salesman was RORY
The duty manager was Mr Neil Holt
    The manager is PJ
It is now 11 months and i have received NOTHING except a 1 week time share in dec 2010 that was only issued to me 2 weeks beforehand so was impossible to use, even though we were assured by Rory and Neil that we were NOT purchasing a time share but a trial membership of a holiday club.
we were given an RCI brochure and told we could book anywhere from it up to 1 year in advance but weeks need to be banked with RCI by porto azzura and an exchange fee of £135 per week is payable??? i was assured that no fees needed to be paid to anyone.
    What can i do????

    :D Hi bcharles6,
This is a geniune RCI Points Affiliate Resort but, they charge far too much. I work in the industry and can get you the same ownership at a fraction of the price you are being charged. Everything would be under English Law with low annual fees. Contact me.

I did the same but it is a scam-you will get the weeks but only when banked with RCI who will then charge you an exchange fee.
You will not be able to book back to any hotel in malta useing your club malta membership as i have been trying to for over a year now.I have reported this scam to the Malta government who dont want to know.:(
