I'm no expert on kids as I don't have any but I moved in with my OH last year and have taken on her own 16 year old and her fostered 17 year old.

The foster son has special needs and can have severe attitude at times but we know that without him being fostered, he would be a seriuos drug user by now.

My OH and I have money problems so I'm now looking for a better paid job, unfortunately I'm only qualified to drive buses and the pay ain't great.

I've found just coming on here and reading what others are up to has made me feel a whole load better, we're all in the same boat but we all have different sized oars:D

I would really agree with holding back on the baby front, if you don't think your OH is mature enough then it's just not worth it.

37 is no time to be writing yourself off, I'm sure there's plenty of people that wouldn't turn you down.

You've told people on here what you're up to and that's a massive step so pat yourself on the back and report back with your progress.

    You know it makes sense:D

Thanks Whits for your kind words. You're right having this site is a godsend. For some reason I can really open up and I know some great advice will come through.

Hope things pick up for you too, sounds like you've got your hands full there with your fostered son. But I think you're doing a wonderful job there.

Wishing you all the very best of luck for finding that new well-paid job

I had a chat last night with the OH and we've come to the conclusion that due to my current job, we hardly see each other so things have to change.

    As an example:-
    Monday - I worked 4.30am till 1pm - OH worked 1pm till 8pm
    Tuesday - I worked 4.30am till 1pm - so I had to go to bed at 10pm.
My OH goes swimming after work and gets home about 8.45pm.

So we get to see each other for about an hour per day, not really conducive to making our relationship work.

We're not having problems but we do need more money so I've bitten the bullet and applied to Coach Hire firms to see if they need drivers.

I did coach driving last year but was fed up with sitting around for 5 hours every day so I'm going to gain a qualification, don't know what yet though.
